Alliance of the Willing: Citizen Engagement for Civic Hygiene, a three-part course:
Part I: Internalizing the Three Loci of Control, Authority and Security, Wednesdays, 9/6,13,20; 7-9PM; 55 Clover Lane, Waterbury; $45; to register, call Sue (802 244-7909).
This short course, created by students’ requests, examines Jung’s idea of individuation and the basic requirements he postulated: having a locus of control, a locus of authority, and a locus of security, What Jung meant, how these loci work in life, how we go about internalizing these, and how these are the basis of both personal and civic hygiene are the foci of the course. This course is a pre-requisite for Part II. Led by Sue Mehrtens
Part II: How to Be an Effective and Efficient Agent of Change, Wednesdays, 9/27, 10/4,11,18; 7-9PM; 55 Clover Lane, Waterbury; $60; to register, call Sue (802) 244-7909.
In light of our contemporary civic dis-ease, this workshop is designed to equip people concerned about our current situation to become effective, efficient agents of change
by examining the laws of change and their implications in light of Jung’s psychology and his predictions for the future. Pre-requisite: “The Three Loci” course. Led by Sue Mehrtens

This course provides examples of several key change agents in recent history, illustrating how the principles involved in effective change get lived out in practical reality toward fostering civic hygiene. Included are discussions of some of the significant documents in the social transformation movement. Led by Sue Mehrtens

The lives of nine remarkable women are the basis of this reading/discussion group. Ranging from the 12th to the 21st century, this course examines the lives of Eleanor of Aquitaine, Margery Kempe, Joan of Arc, Elizabeth Tudor, Anne Hutchinson, Mary Wollstonecraft, Harriet Tubman, Oprah Winfrey and Sonia Sotomayor. The books for this course are available (at a discount for course members) at the Bridgeside Bookstore in Waterbury.
Opportunities and Challenges: A Jungian Perspective on Our Time and Our Future, 9/9, 10/21, 10/22, 11/18 & 12/16; 1-3PM; 55 Clover Lane, Waterbury; $75; to register, call Sue (802) 244-7909
This five-part lecture series considers four key questions we are currently confronting: What’s going on? (9/9) How might we cope? (10/21) What’s coming? (11/18) How might we thrive? (12/16) and includes an experiential session (10/22) on effective ways to reduce stress. A major key to preparing for and coping with whatever the future holds is learning and practicing daily techniques and exercises that help us let go of stressful reactions and return to our true state of inner peace. This session combines visual aids with discussion and practical exercises. The material for this lecture series derives in part from visions, intuitions and voice-over dreams we have had over recent months. Led by Sue Mehrtens and Susan Ackerman.

Jung felt strongly (and subsequent experiences of Jungian analysts have corroborated) that in many instances people dream about collective problems or global issues. In this regard, this gathering, meeting each month through the academic year, offers a forum for people to share dreams they have had that relate to our collective situation. If you have had a dream you think might hold wisdom for our community or the world, and you are willing to share it, this forum is an opportunity for you to do so. If you have a relevant dream but can’t make one of the sessions, you can email/mail it ( or 55 Clover Lane, Waterbury VT 05676) and we will discuss it and record our conversation about it for you.
