Given the increasing partisanship in our society, it is more essential than ever that we consider the diverse backgrounds, life experiences and viewpoints of others, and interact with our fellow human beings with compassion and empathy. This 9-month reading/discussion course provides over a dozen readings from a wide array of individuals–Blacks, women, emigrants, whistleblowers, “blue state” liberals, “red state” conservatives, sociologists, historians and journalists–that paint portraits of lives very different from our own. In our first session we consider what “empathy” means, and how it has become the subject of scientific study in recent years. Each session thereafter takes up a different perspective or experience likely to be unfamiliar to us. Led by Sue Mehrtens.

Carl Jung was emphatic in his belief that human beings’ purpose in life is to create more consciousness, i.e. to become more self-aware, more clued in to the cast of characters living in our “inner city.” This 8-month workshop provides over a dozen exercises that help participants to map out their “inner city” and become acquainted with some of the energies living in it, e.g. the shadow, the anima/animus, the parental imagoes, the Self. A wealth of short readings offer additional food for thought, but the primary focus of the workshop is experiential: hands-on activities that require participation, both in our Zoom session and also outside our course meeting time. Potential participants should be aware of this necessary time commitment when considering whether to sign up for the workshop. Registration limited to 15 participants. Led by Sue Mehrtens

This 8-session journey into consciousness and re-alignment will focus on how to mindfully heal and increase awareness from a collective and internal perspective. The series will cover topics that I find to be direct doors to alchemical transformation in the 21st century. In order to herald in a New Paradigm of empathy, compassion, co-creation, enlightenment and transmutation, we will delve into taboo topics and applicable processes that can be modified for your own personal life, family, community and heart’s compass. Sessions are best done as a series since there is a palpable dynamic created within the group over time; however, please reach out if you would prefer to concentrate on a specific topic and/or date. Series topics: 9/16: Creating a container, the energy within groups and intention setting; 10/2: Alchemical transformation: how to transmute/transcend darkness into light; 11/18: Reframing the age of Narcissism as an opportunity for empathy, compassion, and growth; 12/16: Lightworkers, Christ Consciousness, and how to use Master Teachers as allies; 1/20: Emotional regulation, the power of presence, and how to become a conduit for balance and peace; 2/17: Personal alignment, limit setting, and energetic boundaries; 3/17: Vortices, portals, the power of manifestation and how to open up power centers; 4/21: Becoming a planetary advocate: helping to heal family systems, local community, and our planet. As a collective, we are stepping into a new paradigm and consciousness for the planet. The Chinese symbol for crisis is also the symbol for opportunity; instances of trauma, pain, loss, sickness, and crisis synchronistically push individuals into deep healing and awareness of emotions and our interconnectedness. This places the participant into a new internal and collective landscape where we begin to transmute darkness into light.. Please join us for a one hour healing session that will include an invocation, meditation and healing that pertains to the times that we are in. This is a service for healing the planet.
