1 Nov. 2024

Dear Friends,

November in Vermont is when "the frost is on the pumpkins" and the hillsides are the gray of "twig season." We locals breathe a sigh of relief to have our roads back after the crush of tourists. We quaff our cider as we bed down house and hearth and await the first snow.

The newest course running this month started on October 30th, "Jung and the Paranormal" and is still accepting enrollment; contact us ASAP if you want to join and you will be sent the recording of the first session.

The other course accepting enrollment is "Developing Spiritual Literacy." If you want to join this course, which runs through May of 2025, you will be sent the recordings from the first two sessions.

Our blog essay this month is "The Importance of You," the URL of which is:

I hope you have a wonderful month, and a very happy (delicious) Thanksgiving.

Warmly,
Sue

Upcoming Courses for Fall Term 2024

Developing Spiritual Literacy, Tuesdays, 9/17 (recording), 10/15 (recording), 11/19, 12/17, 1/21, 2/18, 3/18, 4/15, 5/20; 7-9PM; (EDT/EST); via Zoom; $120

Few Westerners understand what ‘spiritual literacy’ means. We will discuss the 9 forms of spiritual literacy and how life becomes different when you are able to read and see patterns, guidance, support and help that are all around you. We will explore synchronicities, paradox, awakened awareness, blocks to becoming spiritual literate, Jungian concepts of spirituality, conscious intent and clear seeing as well as the difference between the old and new paradigms. This informational and experiential course will lead students through exercises and practices to add to your treasure trove of gifts as spiritual beings having a human experience. You will develop your perception and ability to see in a spiritual sense and have tools and exercises that will continue to support you in your inner work and soul work. Co-Led by Sue Mehrtens & Kimia Maleki.

Jung and the Paranormal, Oct. 30 (recording), Nov. 6,13,20; 7-9PM (EDT); via Zoom; $60

Jung had an abiding interest in both psychology and parapsychology, writing about psi, meeting with psychics and clairvoyants, experiencing haunted houses, and urging more study of paranormal phenomena for the wealth of insights they could offer to a deeper understanding of the psyche and its processes. In this student-generated workshop the format is experiential: dozens of exercises serve to foster participants' own psychic abilities. Everyone is psychic; learn how your abilities manifest in this hands-on program.

JUNG ON AMERICA - A Collection of Essays in Print

Paperback

What would Jung think of our “Too-Big-to-Fail” institutions?

What would Jung make of our American exceptionalism?

How would Jung describe America’s shadow?

What about the idea of reparations?

These and other similar questions drawn from the daily headlines have been posed by students at the Jungian Center for the Spiritual Sciences, and they form the substance of this book. Although Carl Jung died in 1961, his intuition and wisdom transcend time and makes his writings as pertinent now as it was in the twentieth century. So we can draw upon his ideas as we grapple with the challenges we face now.
