Songs have served as healing agents in all eras across cultural traditions. Personal experience and insight, intergenerational narratives, existential questions and aspiration are among the themes readily expressed in this most democratic of all art forms. The Song Medicine Cafe is open to folks interested in workshopping their personal songs in a group setting. Participants will be introduced to principles related to song healing, therapeutic life review processes, and approaches to song creation. This experiential format relies on active participation by group members and will include some preparation between sessions. Course materials and assignments will be provided by the host. Experienced musicians are welcome but songwriting and music training are not required. All participants should have a hearty love and appreciation for songs, the desire to create a song of their own, and be willing to share their work in class in some fashion.

This course will cover the basic techniques to transmute positive thought energy into the physical realm. Through various exercises, participants will learn to combine some basic energy work, imagination and gratitude to set the stage for visualizations moving your life forward. Some of the exercises practiced during class and at home can improve wellbeing and a sense of groundedness. Student discussions will round out this rich class.

The focus of this five-week course is on what Jung considered the most important part of his psychology: analysis. We consider what “analysis” means, what it involves, how it differs from psychotherapy, and the practical aspects of the process, e.g. how to choose an analyst, how to engage the work, and how to determine if analysis is for you. The book Components of Jungian Analysis, available on the Jungian Center store in hard copy and pdf, is suggested reading.

Analytical psychology—Jung’s version of depth soul work—is unique among psychotherapeutic schools in its positive attitude toward old age and the aging process. Jung felt that people should live into life right up to the moment of death and he laid out a process for doing so that draws on personality type, personal talents, creative expression and a variety of life experiences that foster soul connection and anticipation of life after life. In this course we read Jung’s work on the stages of life, along with several other short works by older Jungian analysts who draw on their own experience of aging. All the course materials are provided to students before the course begins, to allow them time to do the reading. In-class activities include multiple thought-provoking exercises. Led by Sue Mehrtens, teacher and author. This course provides 16 hours of instruction suitable for CEUs.

Over the last year there have been some significant cosmic configurations that have impacted both our personal lives and our collective reality, and this will continue in 2024. In this two-hour team-taught course, we will discuss the nature of cosmic energy, the Law of Correspondence, how it shows up on both the personal and collective levels, and what the past and coming eclipses mean for us, as individuals and citizens. Topics for discussion include the current unfolding energies, how we might respond to the portals of the eclipses, and ways we might help to heal the collective. This course traces the earliest origins of the religion that came to be known as Christianity, examining the Essene, Gnostic and pagan influences that colored the development of Paul’s thought as he wrote the 7 authentically-Pauline epistles. We examine the historicity of the life of Jesus, and consider the role of Mary and the influence of the goddess in the earliest records, which the later orthodox canon removed. The human side of how Christianity developed is also examined. Prior familiarity with the Gnostic gospels is helpful, but not required.

The Spiritual Adventure of Our Time

C.G. Jung was a prophetic visionary, and he foresaw the decline of organized religions and the emergence of a personal, interior spirituality--a "new dispensation"--that offers a dynamic image of God as a process aligned with the reality of evolution and change. Ten chapters describe Jung's sense of the divine and the components of this new expression of the "religious instinct."

This book addresses these questions, as well as providing an overview of Jung’s quest for confirmation. Early in his life he had come to “know God;” had anyone else had similar experiences grappling with the Undefined and Indefinable? His personal experience led Jung to recognize the “religious instinct” that is innate in human beings, while his astrological studies allowed him to describe how the shift from the Age of Pisces to the Age of Aquarius is altering our modern experience of transcendence.
