Repeats every week until Thu Feb 02 2012 .
Wednesday, January 11, 2012 - 7:00pm to 9:00pm through Wednesday, February 1, 2012 - 7:00pm to 9:00pm

An introduction to a major Jewish mystical tradition, including an examination of its roots in Hellenistic occult science, Gnosticism, and numerology. Among the elements considered are the Tree of Life, the sefirot, and the allegorical interpretation of the Bible. Readings from major cabalists and cabalistic works like Zohar, Sefir Bahir, Sefir Yetzirah and Sefir Ha-Etz Chaim are included. Because mysticism is more an experience than a head trip, students will be introduced to many cabalistic exercises, techniques and processes designed to encourage the personal experience of God.

Facing the blank page or the empty computer screen is a daunting experience for almost all writers. Fortunately, no writer has to (or should) face it alone. We all have an inner partner that can serve as a muse to inspire us and help us create. In this course, we will learn how to dialogue with the inner partner and use Jungian concepts to help us create fiction, such as using active imagination, reading the “Book of the World” for inspiration, and drawing from symbols and archetypes for plot, character and setting. Led by Joe Nusbaum, author, teacher and editor of Eltanin Publishing Company.

This course provides a basic orientation to one of the most essential practices of the spiritual journey. Called 'receptive prayer," "contemplation," "sitting," zazen, and "the art of inner listening," meditation offers manifold benefits to the spiritual seeker. We consider some of the schools of meditation as we work with over a dozen techniques drawn from Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, Jewish, Tibetan and zen traditions. Because the purpose of the course is to equip students with this most valuable tool, the format is much more experiential than intellectual, although some readings are discussed and a lengthy bibilography is provided. The goal is both to inform and to immerse participants in meditation and to encourage the development of a regular, daily practice.

This course is suitable for distance learning. If you live far from our base in Waterbury, Vermont, contact us and we will make arrangements for you to take the course in the distance learning format.

Note: All our Winter term courses build in a snow day. If inclement weather should force the cancellation of a class session, the make up day will be on Saturday, Feb 25th.

We are living in a time when the choices we make will have far more crucial and long-term consequences than at any time in the past. This course explores a variety of questions related to making good choices, e.g. "What does it mean to 'choose'?" "What goes into making good choices?" "What assumptions underlie the choices we make?" and "What's going on now, in the larger context of our lives, that might impact our choosing?" Such questions, as well as others, are considered from a Jungian perspective. This course is being repeated from last year by students' requests.

This course is suitable for distance learning. If you live far from our base in Waterbury, Vermont, and are interested in taking this course, contact us and we will set up arrangements for you to take it where you live.

It has been said that we draw on a small fraction of our true brain power. Equally, we go through daily life using a narrow range of our senses. This workshop introduces participants to their real perceptual ability, what some call our "high sense perception." Via a series of assessment instruments and dozens of exercises, students discover their strongest perceptual mode, their psychological type and its effect on their sensory engagement with the world, and how to access and use the full range of psychic abilities: clairvoyance, clairaudience (knowing beyond the normal range of hearing), and clairsentience (kinesthetic knowing). Key techniques for further work with energy fields and energy healing are also presented, along with guidelines in psychic etiquette and safety tips. An essential course for all further energy work. This course is suitable for CEU credits.
