September 2020 newsletter

29 August 2020

Dear Friends,

As I write this the weather is giving us glimpses of Fall, and trees are already turning here in Vermont–all signs to gear up our Fall term program. It begins on September 1st. The courses are described below.

Please note that we are still under pandemic conditions, so all our programs are running through Zoom. It is not too late to sign up for “Treasures” or “Esoteric Christianity,” and payment can be made through PayPal or via check.

I welcome ideas for future courses. One suggestion I recently received is for a course on Fascism, a subject about which Jung had vivid personal experience. It takes many months to create a course so a program on Fascism won’t appear soon–perhaps in Spring or Summer of 2021. Any other ideas? Email me at info@jungiancenter.org.

I hope you have a happy, healthy September.

Warmly,

Sue

Treasures of the World’s Religions, Tuesdays, 9/1, 10/6, 11/3, 12/1, 1/5, 2/2, 3/2, 4/6 & 5/4; 7-9PM (Eastern US time) via Zoom; $90 (via PayPal or check in $US); to register, email us: info@jungiancenter.org

This 9-session course surveys all the religions of the world to identify the major truths and gifts each contributes to global civilization. Contrasting aspects of the various exoteric expressions of religion and comparison of the commonalities in their respective esoteric forms are highlighted. We also study the mythical, ethical and esoteric aspects of religion, as well as considering the new emerging form of spiritual expression.

Aware that the pandemic has caused widespread economic hardship, we don’t want financial circumstances to hinder someone from taking our courses. We welcome email conversations from anyone who would need a reduction in the usual fee. Led by Sue Mehrtens.

Esoteric Christianity, Wednesdays, 9/2,9,16 & 23rd ; 7-9PM (Eastern US time); via Zoom; $60; to register, email us: info@jungiancenter.org

Drawing on both the orthodox canon and Gnostic texts, this course examines the “more interior” (Greek esoteros) form of the Judeo-Christian tradition. Multiple exercises assist and encourage students to perceive the deeper layers of meaning in both Old and New Testament texts, and to discover the “hidden wisdom in the Holy Gospel.” Aware that the pandemic has caused widespread economic hardship, we don’t want financial circumstances to hinder someone from taking our courses. We welcome email conversations from anyone who would need a reduction in the usual fee. Led by Dr. Sue Mehrtens

Conscious Prosperity: Jung on Money, Wednesdays, 9/30, 10/7,14,21, &28th ; 7-9PM (Eastern US time) via Zoom; $75; to register, email us: info@jungiancenter.org

This course brings a Jungian perspective to bear on money, considering such topics as the “money complex,” symbols and money, archetypes and money, money and values, the link between money and the sacred, and vocation and money. Readings are drawn from a wide array of authors, Western and Eastern., but the bulk of the course consists of thought-provoking exercises. Aware that the pandemic has caused widespread economic hardship, we don’t want financial circumstances to hinder someone from taking our courses. We welcome email conversations from anyone who would need a reduction in the usual fee. Led by Sue Mehrtens
